Meeting Notes
The Machine Knitters of Pensacola, Florida met January 22 and 23, 2010, for a knit-in to benefit Our Haven Lady of Peace. Barbara Meloy, Karen Hughes, Jean Neal, Pat Lawson, Susan Spencer, and Dianne Bayless attended all or part of both days.
Barbara Meloy talked about using weaving in pattern to create thicker fabrics, which we were using to create lap robes. She also discussed other reasons to use weaving, but we weren't able to investigate those this weekend. Barbara created a lovely shawl during the knit-in.
Jo Dall of Indiana joined us for the weekend. Jo had show-and-tell items (below), and finished a woven lap robe, which she left with us for donation. Thanks, Jo! Hope we see you again next year!
Karen Hughes gathered the baby blankets for Ronald McDonald House. We had 50 for them this year, which is, I think, a record in the "modern era" of the group. At least, the pile sure LOOKED larger than in years past. Karen has the actual numbers somewhere.
It's seminar season, and several of us are talking about going to one or more this year. Let Barbara or Susan know if you're interested in one. Hope we can send a southen contingent!
Our next meeting is February 27, 2010 at Ann's house. Karen will be presenting a program on the lace carriage.
HAPPY KNITTING!
