Meeting Notes

In the interest of full disclosure . . . I've completely confused myself this year. I've gotten terribly behind AND I've lost my trusty green notebook. AND, apparently I don't always remember that I own a comera. This means I don't know who attended what meetings, except to be sure that Jean Neal attended every one. So I'll recap with what I remember. Thank goodness that the schedule is still around.

In March, Ann Odom led us in crochet for machine knitters. I learned a couple of new trims, and I remember Karen getting quite in the groove. But I didn't take pictures, apparently.

In April, we did another sock knit-in. Considering we've done this a couple of times now, shouldn't I be able to knit a sock? The answer is no, at least not in front of Barbara. And apparently I don't remember to take pictures if I'm also trying to produce something. Sheesh!

In May, Jean presented double-bed tuck. All I know for sure about this meeting is that I missed it and I'm going to have to ask her to do it again.

In early June, Barbara presented buttonholes. Thank goodness, I took some pictures

In June, we had a free-for-all question and answer session. I sure hope I find my notes eventually, because all I remember by now is that it was quite lively, and that I was supposed to remember something. No such luck. OH! I do remember one thing! Martha Lyle asked if any of us knew what the symbol on the right means.

None of us did. Martha contacted the manufacturer, and guess what? That little symbol means that the yarn is suitable for machine knitting! Well, I never!

In July, we had a skirts session. We browsed through dozens of patterns and touched on all the styles. Karen brought in a number of skirts she'd made over the years . . . and I remembered my camera!

In August, we had a skirts knit-in. I can't remember at all who worked on their pants. I didn't - instead I used my lace carriage for the first time and grinned like an idiot for most of it. Fun! If you don't have one, you MUST get one!

In September, we spent the day with Barbara discussing various methods for converting hand-knitting patterns to machine knitting.

In October, we had a two-day baby blanket knit-in to benefit Ronald McDonald House. We had a visitor, Judith, who is a newish hand-knitter and who is interested in discovering what a knitting machine can do for her. No pictures, go figure!

In November, Karen and I were supposed to present cables and mock cables. We did. Everybody listened. Of course, I didn't take pictures. We also had a visitor, Pat Lawson, who is an experienced machine knitter coming back to the craft.

I Susan, do solemnly swear, that I will never again take forever to update the website, and that, in fact, I'll post the notes so quickly that I won't need my notes. And that I'll try really, really, really hard to remember to bring my camera . . . or to use my phone, which takes fine pictures as well. But no smacking me if I don't, Barbara!

HAPPY KNITTING!

Susan
